Font Styles

We experimented with a few different fonts when picking one for the final cut.

On the earlier drafts I used a font called "Coalition", a rough looking font that seemed to suit the rough and ready style of the football hooliganism genre.

Later we decided that this font just was not working, so opted for a more clean cut font named “Cafe Nero”

football Factory - Inspiration - Textual Analysis

Today i watched the football factory first 2 minutes, this is to try and get inspiration from it. The first 2 and half minutes is full of clips and pictures of football hooligasm this is to grab the attention of the viewers and show what the film is about. While the clips are going on there is title between clips, the titles are white on a black background and in the middle. This is done to make the titles stand out. In the last 30 seconds of this clip you see a man with blood over his face and looks in danger, then a voice over starts and this is done so the viewer can understand the scenes within the title sequence.

Second to Last lesson.

In this lesson we are coming near the end of finishing the title sequence. We have notice that it is difficult to understand and following due to the change of location throughout the sequence. As a group we decided to have a voice over like in football factory. This will help us overcome the confusing caused in the title sequence.

Football Factory - Inspiration

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdbmjmvdILI
In this clip of the beginning of football factory, 2 mins onwards there is a voice over by the main protagonist to introduce who he is and make everything clear for the viewers, much like we plan to do with ours.

Cass - Inspiration

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9kIEmLCwcY
This clip of Cass brings inspiration to our group, this is because it starts of with a flashback like we are trying to do in Forever United. Cass is also a film based around football hooliganism. The reason  this is used in Cass is to show how he got caught up in football hooliganism. Its used as an indicator of a big event which is going to be coming later on in the film.

Improvements and Discussion

Over the last week we have had a few discussions with our teacher, our teacher said about possible ideas to help us improve our sequence because the characters were not very clear, so we were looking for ideas to make it a bit more understandable. We have a few ideas which involve going out and getting more footage and a voiceover.

Last Filming Session

The last time we filmed we recorded the second part of the sequence, I came into Hadleigh so I could film while both Ben and James acted. Initially we filmed James stood on his in quite an isolated area so it shows he has gone out of his way to get away and be on his own. He appears on camera deep in thought, we filmed him like this for about 30 seconds. After we done that I filmed James meeting Ben, leading into a small fight between the 2 characters. We used an over the shoulder shot following James' character so we can see ben walking past, we then edited it back into James deep in thought for a few seconds. It cuts between the 2 events through a 25 second period while the problems start between Ben and James. We then moved location to where i fall against a wall due to the beating i just endured and we then get a close up of me falling to the ground. This is where we finished the filming for that sequence and left it for another day when we have edited this all together and need some more footage. All this shots that I filmed James is going to edit it, so it looks like a flashback sequence to see what is going to happen later in the film.
